Toy Story
Spatial Design / Investigative Research / Speculative
In collaboration with: Lucía de la Torre
Still faced with taboos, the Sex Toy industry was valued on $33 Billion in 2022. During the pandemic it experienced a boom in e-commerce, and simultaneously a rise in online counterfeits of these toys. Sex toy counterfeits can impact our health, security and environment. In this research we connected the dots between illegal warehouses, Black Markets, Anti-Counterfeit Agencies, hospital rooms and sex toy hackers, spanning from the US, to China, Spain, Thailand and the Netherlands.
The end result is a conceptual store tackling the problems and controversies of our research.
After drawing our entire research we ideated a sex toy concept store with a lab to disect, protect and recycle counterfeited and sex toys and warn about the dangers of getting your toy hacked.

Store Design: Through a system made of semitransparent textile conducts all floors are connected: they serve as windows, display
shelves and transportation tubes. The textile is practical as well as metaphorical, bringing
intimacy to a public space.
