Custom Illustration and Installation

Boreal is a contemporary restaurant in Helsinki’s Design District, deeply rooted in the nature and seasons of Finland. As gastro enthusiasts, they explore organic agriculture, wild foraging, and responsibly sourced meat and seafood. The menu changes with the seasons, following the rhythm of Finnish nature from the first signs of spring to the deep stillness of winter.

At the end of the dinner experience, guests receive a little souvenir, a snapshot of the meal: On one side the written dishes of the menu and on the other hand painted illustrations of the ingredients used throughout the seasonal menu. Three different design options for each the regular and the vegetarian option. 

Additionally, for visitors of Helsinki, I designed a custom map which highlights the recommendations of the team. A QR code on the backside

The entrance starts changing with each season. For this late Spring/ Summer fresh produce is suspended from the ceiling and dries, while being consistently switched by the team as the season progresses and the fast changing produce is highlighted.
